Access To Your Test Results

It is important that you follow up your test results.

Routine test results will usually be available 3-5 days after the test has been undertaken.  Please note, your GP may indicate that he wishes you to return to discuss your results and not all results are automatically available without follow up consultation for which a charge may apply.

Results will be given out by the practice nurses Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

These times will be strictly maintained as the nurse also has appointments with patients.

You can call the clinic during this time and your call will be referred to the nurse. You may need to hold for a few minutes if the nurse is on another call. The nurse will not be available to return calls.

The doctor will contact you in urgent cases

Another appointment will be needed to discuss important abnormal results.

We will recall patients either by letter or phone who do not follow up important abnormal results.

Pap smear results are notified by mail, and results are routinely forwarded to the Pap Smear Registry, unless you request not to have this done.

As a courtesy, we also advise women when repeat smears are due - this involves sending a letter to you after 1 or 2 years.

If you change your address, or if you prefer not to receive this reminder, please advise us.

Please ensure we have your current telephone numbers, address and emergency contact details.
