Flu Vaccine General Information

• Is the flu vaccine still important this year?
  Vaccination against influenza (flu) remains important this year. Flu is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause widespread illness and deaths every year. Vaccination is our best defence against flu viruses.
• Who should be vaccinated?
  Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for all adults and children aged 6 months to less than 5 years. It is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications.
• How far apart should the flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine be taken?
  Administration of an influenza vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine should be a minimum of 14 days apart.
• When will the 2021 flu vaccine be available?
  Free flu vaccines under the National Immunisation Program will become available in April 2021. Vaccinating in autumn provides protection before the peak influenza season.
• Do you provide the vaccine for private patients?
  If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccine we will have private flu vaccines available for purchase.
• How do I book a flu vaccine appointment?
  Once we have received vaccines you will be able to book into our flu clinics which will operate on level 2 at High Street Medical Clinic.
